To help scale UX practices across the University of Toronto, I created a series of workshops aimed at introducing core UX methods to teams across departments — including staff, analysts, and non-designers. Each workshop was built from the ground up, with custom guides, exercises, and templates tailored to the needs of higher education teams. The goal was to make UX approachable, practical, and directly applicable to real university projects — from system design to service improvement. These workshops continue to support teams across the institution in integrating UX into their everyday work.

How it works

As part of our growing UX presence at the University of Toronto, I developed a series of practical, accessible workshops designed to help internal teams apply UX thinking to their own projects — even if they don’t have formal UX training. Each workshop comes with a custom-made guide I created from scratch, aimed at making UX methods approachable and actionable for non-designers.

These workshops are part of our wider UX service offerings and have been delivered to teams across U of T. The goal is to equip teams with foundational UX knowledge they can use to improve their digital services and decision-making processes.

Workshop Topics

User Personas
Learn how to create research-backed personas that reflect real user motivations, behaviours, and needs. This workshop helps teams move beyond assumptions and start designing for actual people.

User Journey Mapping
A hands-on session that walks teams through creating journey maps to visualize user experiences across key touchpoints — helping identify friction points and opportunities for improvement.

Usability Assessments
This workshop introduces usability heuristics and evaluation methods, giving teams tools to assess the strengths and weaknesses of their digital tools — and prioritize fixes with confidence.
